The Capricorn Coast's largest manufacturer was given the green light by Council yesterday for expansion to a new site located on Pineapple Drive.
The approved development involves the establishment of a meat processing facility within an existing building as well as a building extension to facilitate the use and additional supporting facilities and infrastructure.
The facility is expected to drive significant employment growth in the region by processing more than 200 tonnes of food annually. It will create 107 direct jobs and provide diverse career opportunities across production, refrigeration maintenance and engineering, quality assurance, administration, and sales. Once operational, the facility is projected to contribute an additional $222 million each year to the broader economy, strengthening local industry and supporting long-term economic activity.
Not new to the region, Keppel Eats celebrated 39 years in business earlier in 2025. Originally starting out as Keppel Brand, Keppel Eats now boasts other product-specific brands with Keppel Dog and Cattlemen's. Now, as a second generation family business, owners Kelly Newton and Mark Davie proudly employ 50 people , and are always on the look out for ways they can value add to not only their business, but to their community.
